In honor of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Leonardo a Vinci, we were asked to investigate his projects, trace his work processes, and design a toy inspired by them. We chose Da Vinci's catapult as a starting point and applied its mechanical principles to a children's scooter. For that, we carried out material research which was a significant anchor in the development process.
Collaboration with industrial designer Doron Azulay
As part of the material research, we layered different materials in the lamination process to find a balance between strength and flexibility. Finally, we discovered that a layered oak veneer with fiberglass sheet is the right combination for the scooter board.
